One of our top clients own a business in the leisure travel space. His business wrestles with seasonality every year. Around 80% of revenue arrives in the first quarter, then cash drains through the rest of the year and often rus out before the year did. You can image the stress he feels at the end of each year. The holidays were always a struggle as he tried to keep the business alive until the next busy season, stealing much of the joy from the season.

We started working with him at the beginning of 2025, before the big deposits hit. Together, we planned exactly how much he needed to carry the business through the slow periods and set that amount aside the moment each payment cleared. By the end of Q1, we knew he had enough to cover expenses for Q2-Q4. With the peace of mind that he would make it through the entire year, he had the clarity and confidence to focus on growth and nearly doubled revenue versus the prior year.

Then a new challenge appeared: a much larger tax projection arrived from his tax accountant. That shock often triggers panic for many owners. We've seen it countless times.

In this case, though, we anticipated more profitability and therefore higher taxes. We prepared for this outcome by reserving a percentage of every deposit for taxes across the year, so when the bill arrived he had the cash and could pay it without stress. With the primary concern covered, he is now working with his tax advisor to reduce the liability and keep more of what he earned in 2025 and in future years.

Instead of worrying about getting through the holidays, we are already planning how to build on 2025’s progress in 2026.
